Reading Logs:
My intention with the reading logs is to track your student's success with daily reading. I believe that there is a pocket of time everyday where a child should find a quiet space and read. Throughout the year, I ask that your child also read a portion of their reading aloud to you. I find that even if you are "doing" something, i.e. washing dishes, working int he garage, your child can sit on a chair and read to you. We are trying to build fluency as well as comprehension. You will ultimately have a better understanding of your child's fluency than I will, based on the one to one interaction you have with them at home.
Book Reports:
Towards the end of the year we will stop our reading logs and start book reports. These will be simple and basic, however, we feel that these are a great tool in furthering your child's experience with reading.
