Language Arts this year for first graders is very challenging. We start with the proper structure of a sentence, learn nouns, verbs, adjective, pronouns and finish the year with subjects and predicates. The best way for your child to grasp these concepts is by talking about them and practicing it in daily life. For example while at the beach ask them to play an I spy game of nouns they see. Then they can tell you the "action/verb" of those nouns. When you receive their language arts packets and worksheets home in their Tuesday folder, please take the time to review these new concepts with them.
